Description:

Level-funded health plans look like health insurance but are, in fact, self-funded plans. With level-funded, an employer pays a monthly amount per employee (which looks a lot like a premium) to cover the estimated cost for claims, stop-loss insurance premium to cap claims exposure at a set dollar amount and administration costs. This is just one of the many differences from traditional group health insurance.

This live virtual course instructed by David Smith, senior vice president of eBen, will help agents better understand level-funded quotes and the approach of different players. Agents will be undoubtedly better prepared to educate clients and prospects on the differences with traditional health insurance or self-funded plans. We will highlight the compliance risks and other areas of concern that most employers and agents never know to look out for until it’s too late. Developed originally through the NABIP Legislative Council’s Employer Working Group, this updated Level-Funded Health Plans course will provide the essential tools needed to protect your business and your client with these products.

Tools to walk away with:
  • Comparisons of fully insured vs. traditional self-funded
  • Understanding costs
  • Post-plan year liability
  • Leftover claim funds
  • Reporting
  • Compliance issues unique to level-funded
  • Level-funded worksheets – analysis, claim funding, review list and disclosure forms
