Vice President of Meetings

Kathleen Cochran, CAE, CMP, has nearly 30 years of experience as a meeting professional in association, corporate and government-contracting environments. She joined NAHU in 1994. As vice president of meetings, Kathleen’s primary responsibility is managing NAHU’s Capital Conference and Annual Convention. Her duties include managing the RFP process, contract negotiation, developing and monitoring budgets, directing exhibit and sponsorship programs, coordinating meeting logistics, managing food and beverage requirements, and planning special events such as the Gordon Memorial Award Dinner and Leading Producers Round Table events.  

Kathleen has been an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for more than 25 years, so she has an appreciation of the volunteer member experience. She served as president of one of the largest MPI chapters (800+ members), so she can definitely relate to chapter management issues! She has received numerous awards on both the chapter and international levels. Kathleen has also served on customer advisory boards for Convention & Visitors Bureau, airline and hotels, and has been on MPI’s International Awards Committee and ASAE’s Ethics Committee.  

Kathleen achieved the Certified Meeting Professional designation in 1995 and Certified Association Executive in 2000. A native Washingtonian, she has a BA degree from Catholic University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland.

When not creating memorable meetings for NAHU members, Kathleen can be found at sporting events ranging from Nationals games, to Redskins games, to Capitals games, to Wizards games.
