It’s the calm before the storm as politicos and policy wonks in Washington, D.C. and throughout the country await the results of Tuesday’s midterm elections. More than 6,000 legislative seats and 36 governorships are at stake, but most of the attention has been focused on control of Congress and whether a “Blue Wave” of Democratic voters will materialize to flip control of the House or Senate. On this week’s episode, NAHU’s John Greene and Chris Hartmann take a deep dive at the key contests to watch on election night, both in terms of early indicators for how the night might go, and the races that could have the most impact on NAHU’s legislative agenda in the new Congress. Additionally, NAHU’s Vice President of Government Affairs Marcy M. Buckner helps to unpack the Trump Administration’s latest regulatory efforts—the proposed rule to expand Health Reimbursement Arrangements, and the guidance to provide greater state flexibility of the ACA’s State Relief and Empowerment Waivers.
