The House and Senate are moving quickly to advance a major overhaul of the nation’s Tax Code and are debating whether to make fundamental changes to the ACA in the process. While the House passed their version without touching the ACA’s individual mandate, the Senate is seeking major healthcare changes. On this week’s installment, NAHU Vice President of Government Affairs Marcy M. Buckner and Vice Presidents of Congressional Affairs John Greene and Chris Hartmann discuss the latest developments on tax reform and what it means for brokers and employers. They also discuss the other major legislative item moving before the end of the year—what is being termed an “end of year meatball”—that in addition to annual appropriations, may also include re authorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, bipartisan market stability provisions from the Alexander-Murray proposal, and delays to the Cadillac/excise tax and Health Insurance Tax.
