The Trump Administration released their association health plan (AHP) and short-term plan (STP) final rules this summer in the promise of providing lower cost healthcare options. But many states have provided a lukewarm response, at best, while others have suggested outright banning these policies. On this week’s episode, NAHU’s Vice President of Government Affairs Marcy M. Buckner provides an update on where states are landing on the new federal rules and the resources that are available exclusively to NAHU members to keep track of them. Marcy also provides an update on the Trump Administration’s statements that implied an expanded role for navigators to enroll consumers in AHPs and STPs and how NAHU worked with the administration on clarifying their role. The podcast also looks at what’s at stake over the coming oral arguments challenging the constitutionality of the ACA’s individual mandate and consumer protections, as well as a look at what’s on tap for Congress when it returns from its August Recess after the Labor Day holiday.
