The Trump Administration released their final rule today on short-term limited duration insurance (STLDI), often referred to as short-term plans (STPs), in an effort to provide additional coverage options for individuals outside of the marketplaces. This week’s special edition NAHU Healthcare Happy Hour features a discussion with NAHU Vice President of Government Affairs Marcy M. Buckner to review the 121-page rule and what it will mean for your clients and prospective clients who may be considering STPs. Marcy details the technical requirements of these plans, what consumers should know who enroll in these plans this year while the mandate penalties remain in full effect, how state regulators might take action to modify the plan’s requirements or maximum duration, the impact these plans may have on the individual marketplace and employer-sponsored insurance coverage, and how NAHU helped to influence the rule-making process.
