Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act toward achieving a common goal. This definition captures the essentials of being able to inspire others -- and being prepared to do so.
NAHU is the leading professional association for health insurance agents and brokers nationally. On August 2nd and 3rd, over 100 NAHU members and industry representatives will meet at The Sheraton Valley Forge, in King of Prussia for the annual gathering of NAHU members and leaders from the mid-Atlantic states, PA, NJ, DE, MD, DC and VA. Additionally, national NAHU leadership and industry thought leaders will be in attendance. Members and non-members alike are invited to this event which will showcase some of the great things being done by NAHU.
On Thursday morning grab a cup of coffee and join as our first speaker, Brian Lobley, president of commercial & consumer markets at Independence Blue Cross, sits down with John Hobson, senior vice president of broker relations at Emerson Reid LLC. Listen to them discuss how effective leadership is based on ideas (whether original or borrowed) and how you, as a leader, are the inspiration and director of action. And that action won't happen unless those ideas can be communicated to others in a way that engages them enough to act as the leader wants them to act.
With our second speaker, Jackie Bradley of Mindshift Financial Coaching will share her work with hundreds of entrepreneurial teams and the leadership mind shift required to face change head on & use it to your advantage. In the face of such change, we must continue to rethink how we lead. While many leadership techniques are timeless, their applications can be reinvented for maximum impact.
Our Keynote speaker, Tom Tapper of 642 Consulting Group LLC shares a life of setbacks & failures to go one and become an elite special operations medic with the Navy SEALs and top performing medical device sales consultant. Tom will encourage you to Choose Your Code because in order to lead others you must first lead yourself.
Our national leaders will provide a LIVE! Washington Update and NAHU President Rusty Rice will talk to us about the value of membership and future vision of NAHU. To end our day and take us into the evening, we will have an encore presentation of Legislation, Libations and Laughs, a lively panel discussion with the legislative leaders in our region who will candidly discuss current issues in health insurance policy.
Friday's agenda will be open to all members but will be of particular interest to those in leadership positions, such as state and local presidents, presidents-elect, membership and retention chairs, legislative chairs, media chairs, awards chairs, professional development chairs and anyone else who may be working on chapter boards. It is great information for all newly elected and seasoned leaders. The best way to learn is to spend time with others!
