NAHU Submits Written Testimony to House Education & Labor Committee on Legislation to Lower Prescription-Drug Costs
NAHU submitted written testimony to the House Education and Labor Committee to provide recommendations on how to lower drug costs for American consumers, with a primary focus on H.R. 3, the Democratic Party’s main proposal to lower drug costs. In our comments, we stressed the importance of extensive public policy action in order to curb rising prescription-drug costs for Americans, noting how much more consumers here pay relative to those in 32 other high-income nations. However, we also urged caution and asked that any proposal, including H.R. 3, take into account the potential for cost-shifting in the pharmaceutical market and the implications of regulation that would set prices in the private market.
