A Radio Program for NAHU Members, By NAHU Members
NAHU's Education Foundation is proud to announce that it is underwriting the production of a weekly radio program that will focus on health insurance issues.
The show will be hosted by NAHU member Sharon Alt from Texas and can be heard over the Internet every Thursday at 4pm Eastern (1pm Pacific). This program is readily available to NAHU members and their clients, since the archived audio stream can be accessed 24/7.
Topics for the show will include:
- The Uninsured - Who are they and why are they?
- The difference between Health Care and Health Insurance
- Private Health Care system vs. Government run health coverage
- Consumer Driven Health Care... examining the alphabet soup
- Medical Liability / Tort Reform Long Term Care / Senior Issues
NAHU will draw on its relationships with government and industry leaders to help Sharon secure guests to appear on the program, and will provide technical and policy guidance as requested.
When asked about the mission of the show, Sharon said "This show will educate consumers about health insurance and related benefits; by helping them understand how the health insurance market works, I'll help them make better decisions to protect the health and financial wellbeing of themselves and their families. I will cover both the broad health insurance marketplace and specific products and services available to consumers. The show will feature guests from the insurance industry and from the government to explain how they affect the health care financing choices of millions of Americans. I'll also separate myths from facts, and help listeners understand how they can best protect their families most effectively and economically. This show will not be about medical problems or issues - I am not a doctor, but am a health insurance professional with almost 20 years experience. I will draw on that experience in health insurance and employee benefit sales and service, including the filing and management of insurance claims for my clients, to make the apparent maze of health insurance options and procedures easily understood and navigated."
